Evaluation 3
It is unlikely that an
independent company would distribute our film. This is because the only other
film that is distributed by an independent company that is of similar genre is
attack the block and that is the only film that is similar n regards that it is
a sci-fi film. It is more likely that a
large American based company like universal studios would distribute this film,
as it is they have distributed films of similar content in the past e.g. all
three of the x men films and the prequels in addition to other sci-fi films
like ‘the thing’ both the 1982 and 2011 versions. However the film doesn’t
require a large amount of special effects, which would mean it would probably
be handled better by a independent film that doesn’t have access to excessive
special effects meaning that they will most likely handle they will make the
best of what they’ve got, putting more effort into the actual film than making
it look good. Films that are similar to ours that have been distributed by a
mainstream audience are The X Men films, Limitless, The Avengers and Jumper.
The avengers and the x men films appeal to the same audiences of people who are
interested in film adaptations of marvel comics or super hero movies. Limitless
and jumper are a grittier more realistic version of what superhero films would
be like. The films are similar in regards to content and how the film is
presented as in they are both shot with dark lighting and have the same sort of
running away from a group of mafia type people that are trying to kill the
protagonist for whatever reason. It is more likely that our film will be given
a more Jumper style of presentation if a mainstream distributor this is because
the film has similar content and would be filmed the same way because the
distributor would see it as another version of Jumper and market it as such. If
our film was distributed by an independent company it would probably be more in
the style of a warp film like this is England, though this is not the same
genre of film the style of warp is to be gritty and realistic or based loosely
on real events. This is called social realism and has yet to be seen in a super
hero film and could be an interesting twist on the genre.
